Bobby Joe "BJ" Wade, 81, of Sarasota, died April 6, 2010.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Toale Brothers Funeral Homes, Colonial Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will be at noon Monday at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
Survivors include his three daughters, Julia Boyd of Sarasota, Tracie of Conover, N.C., and Kristen of Sarasota; a son, Robert of Sarasota; a sister, Jeanne Harris of Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Thank you for the example you set for those of us in Platoon 310 at MCRD San Diego in 1959. I later also served at the Depot as an instructor, but primarily to teach solid state electronics. I remember recruit training very clearly...much was asked knowing as you did that much more would be required in VietNam. Thank you, sir, for the example you set.

SSgt BJ Wade was the senior instructor of Platoon 310 MCRDSD during my recruit training there in 1959. Honor platoon of the series. I went on
to become general counsel of General Dynamics corporation the USAs largest defense contractor in a legal career that spanned 60 years. He made us proud.
