Stobbs, Charles K.
July 2, 1929 - July 11, 2008

Charles K. "Chuck" Stobbs, 79, died peacefully at his home with family present on July 11, 2008.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 29 years, Joyce (Tindall) Stobbs; his daughter, Betsy Stobbs and her son, Evan; daughter Nancy Powell, her husband, Dave, and their children Isaac, Charley and Jocelyn; daughter Mahaska Peters and Jeff Saladino and their children Austin, Brooke, Justin and Michael; son Charles K. Stobbs II, his wife, Nicole, and their children Lauren, Charles III, Chandler and Lindsey; stepdaughter Kimberly Loeschman, her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Helen; stepdaughter Belinda Macumber, her husband, Bob, and their children Jason and Heather; mother-in-law Helen Tindall; brothers Thomas and Richard Stobbs; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Robert Kleinknecht.
A 15-year Major League Baseball veteran with the Boston Red Sox and Washington Senators, he was also a high school All-American football and basketball player with a storied career at Granby High School in Norfolk, Va., leading to his induction into the Granby H.S. Hall of Fame (1996) and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame (2002). With numerous scholarship offers to play college ball, while also an Esquire All-American in baseball, he chose an offer from the Boston Red Sox to turn professional. After winning 107 MLB games he coached at George Washington University, with the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians.
A memorial service will be held at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Congregational Care Committee at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Chuck Stobbs may well have been the finest three sport high school athlete in the history of Virginia. I saw him play basketball in Richmond 1947. I'm a Red Sox fan and was sorry to see him traded away. He had a good record with the Sox 1949-1951

I have lost a dear friend in Chuck.
My fondest memories will be working with him at the bazaar and his great jokes. NO Chuck I did not buy my dress at the bazaar........but maybe you check out those heavenly robes.
