Guy C. Wright Jr., 88, of Englewood, Florida, passed away on February 24, 2021. Guy was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on April 23, 1932. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Guy was married to Libby for 55 years until her death in 2010. He spent his career at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, where he served as a powertrain engineer for 32 years. Guy was known as a person who could fix anything, enjoyed working on cars, boats and projects around the house as well as helping friends. There was a joke about how many ways he could find solutions to repair broken things with duct tape. He was an avid NASCAR fan, who attended many races around the country. He also loved going to the Venice YMCA everyday where he had so many friends that there was speculation that he spent more time socializing than working out. He was a long-time supporter of the Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit, where he demonstrated his love of animals. Guy will be remembered as an incredibly kind person, who always had a smile and kind words.
Guy is survived by his four children: Mike (Janet), David (Rande), MaryAnn (Bob), and Jan (Carla), granddaughters Sara Morin (Ken), and Caroline Quintana (Josh), his long-time friend Sherrey Welch and many other friends.
Guy is preceded in death by his wife Libby. He will be buried beside his wife at the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit (www.metrodetroitanimals.org) or Tidewell Hospice (www.tidewellhospice.org).
