Jess, my sunshine. Missing you dearly. I think of you so often. I tell my children about you. About our fun adventures and late nights at the beach. The time we sat up all night on a trampoline and watched the stars as they moved. We had some amazing times together. I wish you were here. I wish you could meet my kids. My brother, Brandon, is up there with you now. Maybe you guys have met.

I'm sorry it is so late that I am writing to express my sympathy. With the holiday's around the corner I can't help but think of families who will have an empty chair at the dinner table for the first time Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ron and Lori, I'm sure Jessica is deeply missed by you and the rest of her family. Let your faith get you through the holidays. Please tell the Heaton family I'm thinking of them.

Hi Jess,
It's almost been a year and yet it seems like just yesterday I heard your beautiful voice and saw your smiling face. It has been such a long year. Every month on the 17th I play a song that reminds me of the times we were together and the times we tried to pretend for a moment that we can sing. I bet you sing beautifully as an Angel. I miss you so much, words can't describe. I found the book that you got Alyssa a couple of years ago from one of our many boxes. I am going to start reading it to her. Alyssa mentions you and it hurts. It is bittersweet. I don't ever want her to forget you. When it doesn't seem so hard, I am going to show her pictures of you and her together and tell her the many times we all spent together. It was so much fun, and you were so great with my kids. You treated them as if they were your own. Alyssa will always be your Gucci girl. I wish you had got to spend more time with Emily or as you say "Elimy". She is so active and loves to get into everything.

Knowing that you are at peace and in no more pain is what gets me through the times I think about you, which lately has been a lot. Everytime I go to Sarasota, I seem to block out this past year, because I want to call you. You have been there for me in so many ways and I will always be greatful for that. I love you Jessica, and I know that we will see each other again someday. Please watch over us, especially your Gucci baby and Elimy. I know you are a beautiful Angel, and now you are our Angel. I love you cousin <3 <3 <3

Hi Honey,
Just can't believe it has been almost a year since we have seen your beautiful face and a smile that warms my heart. I know you are smiling down on all of your loved ones, and telling us everything is alright, and that you are happy with the Lord. We miss you, but you will always be in our hearts and prayers forever. We will see you again someday. Until then, be our Angel and watch over all your loved ones. Love you always!

To Ron, Wanda, Lori, Jim, Christopher, Ryan, & Justin,

Our hearts ache at the loss of Jessica, your beautiful daughter and sister, and our beautiful Goddaughter. We thank God that we had the opportunity to share our faith with Jess, and to watch her grow spiritually this past year. We loved her so much, and it hurt to watch her suffer. But we were so proud of her as we watched her grow closer to God. It was through Him that she found the strength to get through it all, one day at a time.

We all prayed that God would heal Jessica of this terrible disease of leukemia, but He chose instead to heal her by taking her to be with Him. There are some things that God does that are just so hard for us to understand, but we believe that someday, we will be reunited with Jessica, and perhaps then God will explain it all to us.

You are all constantly in our thoughts and prayers. We pray that God will be with each one of you throughout the difficult days ahead. May He hold you tight, give you peace, comfort, and strength, and carry you through each and every day. We love you all so much. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

With love,
Dave & Debbie

Dear Jessica,

One of the best days in my life is when Aunt Debbie and I were asked to be your Godparents. In this last year, you taught me more than I could have ever taught you. But let’s start with my favorite memory of you, and it happened about 18 years ago. You had just started to play T-ball, and of course, it was on a boy’s team. As usual, you were sitting down, picking grass, or watching for airplanes while you were supposed to be fielding. The coach decided to call you out, and positioned you in a fielding position at 2nd base, crouched with hands and glove on your knees. The next batter grounded a ball 1 or 2 feet to your right. You neither moved out of your crouch, nor looked at the ball, even as the runner ran from 1st to 2nd. The relay ball almost hit you in the head. Neither team could hold back their laughter. You neither were fazed, nor did you care. This set the tone for your life. If the coach was going to call you out to get ready for the ball, you were going to also make him yell to go to the ball, yell to stop it, and yell to throw it. I don’t think he ever called you out in front of the team again.

Jessie, your last moments on Earth also blessed me. One of your favorite songs was “I Can Only Imagine”, a song about what will we do when we meet Jesus. As I left the hospital that Wednesday morning to go pick up your Grandma and Grandpa, “I Can Only Imagine” came on the radio, and we quietly listened. I said, “Soon Jessie won’t have to imagine". I called the radio station the next day to see what song was playing on the radio at the time that you went to be with the Lord. They replied, “I Can Only Imagine”.

Aunt Debbie and I were honored to be your Godparents. We’ll always love you, and we will see you again.

Love,
Uncle Dave

Jessica,
I love your feisty attitude and the way you did things your way. I love that you didn't take any crap from anyone. I love the way you thought about your family first when deciding on your transplant. I love the way you loved the children in our family and watching you interact with them, you lit up with joy. I love the way that you cared for all animals. I love the way that you were not afraid to go, but you were afraid for your family left behind. Jessica, I loved everything about you and who you were. You were an inspiration to me and everyone around you. You will never be far from my mind. Memories will sustain until we meet in Heaven. I LOVE YOU JESS!

My Cousin,

My best experience with Jessi was here final visit to Springfield. I hung out with her and Joe everyday. I remember driving in the car with her and she had something in a bag. I asked her what was in it, and she pulled out a slip-n-slide from walmart. I wasn't really surprised, but pretty excited. Later on we were sliding on it until midnight. The next day.... same story, but this time it wasn't at midnight lol.
I didn't get to see Jessica very much, so when I did I was sure to spend time with her. I wish her time on this earth didn't have to be so short, but she certainly made the best of it. She fought a great battle, but we can all agree that she is in a better place. I love you Jessie and will always treasure those great memories.

My Friend, my sister:

Jessie was an outgoing, fun loving, free spirit that would have done anything for her family friends & animals. As she continues to watch over us in Heaven our family has gained a stronger bond. Jessie taught us so much about life with all the fun we all had together and how corageous and fearless she was. With her anything was possible.

We will take your lessons through our lifetime. We love & miss you dearly Jessie, we think about you everyday. You will stay in our hearts forever until one day when we meet again in your peaceful heaven.

Dear Erin (I called her Erin when we were joking around with each other)

I loved your true honesty and love that you displayed in your life. I always thought I was one up on the kids when we were joking around but, you sure taught me a lesson. One evening, while in Tampa after your transplant in your apartment, you wanted the American Idol karaoke game for your Wii. This was at 9:00 at night. I said "you want me to go out now and get that"? She didn't even hesitate. She held up her right hand and starting from her thumb she said "daddy, mommy, Wanda, Jim". I just looked at her and said "your holding up five fingers". At that moment she placed her thumb against her little finger and said "you should be here because I know I have you wrapped around my little finger". Thant was truly my Jessica. Honest and bold. She knew I would do anything for "daddy's little girl". She was right. I went out and got that game and we laughed all night. Those memories were so worth it. I would never have done anything differently. She was and always will be "my little girl". I love you Jessica Erin Heaton

To my Dear Jessica,
I loved your zest for life. I loved that you were always there for your brothers and family. I loved your witingess, your laugh, your smile, your loyalty to your friends, your compassion for animals ( I remember the first time she loved animals. We were sitting downstairs and we thought we heard kittens and of course the children knew nothing. Ron and I went into Jessie's bedroom opened up her closet and their they were, a littler of kittens). I admired your courage and your love for the Lord. You have touched so many hearts. You have given us a lot of wonderful memories and smiles and laughts. I thank you for that Jessie. I am proud to say you were my daughter and always will be. You will always be in my heart. You made my role as a mom complete. Thank you for being in my life.

Dear Ron, Wanda, Chris, Ryan, Justin, Lori and Jim,

Jessie sure did touch a lot of people. It is funny what we find out about a child of God when they are gone. You were great parents and wonderful brothers. Embrace each day and never stop telling your loved one’s that you love them. No amount of words can fill the void you are all experiencing. I will continue to pray for comfort and peace. We will all be together again one day and that puts a smile in my heart.

God blessed our family with Jessica and we thank him for that privilege. He has given her a better life in his Kingdom and we have another angel to watch over us. Jessica was truly a very special young lady who was a joy to be around. We will meet again in Heaven and what a grand reunion it will be. Dear Lori and Family,
I cry for you as well as myself as I write this to you and your family. I know your pain and feel your loss, for we lost our son (Braxton) this past Easter.
The loss of ones child is the greatest loss one must ever have to endure.
No words will ever take the pain away, but the cherished memories of Jessica will help to heal some of the pain in time.
Your daughter as I recall, as a child, was quite the character, bubbly and full of zest - that energy will be with her on her next journey.
It's hard to understand why such young lives end so quickly and unnecessarily.
My only answer to you as well as myself is, "that God did give us a gift - Our Children - but they are his too, and their special gifts are needed elsewhere, in his hand once again to do the work of the Lord".
Lori, my heart, soul and prayers are with you and your family and hoping my son is there to meet Jessica once again.
