Kenneth Gordon Obituary

Kenneth A. Gordon, M.D., age 68, died on Jan. 3, 2011 from complications of Lymphoma. He was born in the Bronx in 1942, and grew up on Staten Island. He earned his B.A. degree from Georgetown University and his M.D. from New Jersey College of Medicine. After completing his pediatric training at the University of Kansas he served as a Lt. Cmdr. in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp on Parris Island. He was a practicing pediatrician in Sarasota for 39 years. He was a member of St. Martha's Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Isadore and Evelyn Gordon.
He is survived by his wife, Francesca; his sons, Kenneth (Carly) of St. Louis, Jeffrey (Trish) of Greenville; his daughters, Susan Caldwell, Kimberly McGath (Quinn), Marilyn Harris (Jason) and Katie Mickey of San Francisco; his brothers, Charles, Robert and Steven Gordon; Dr. Gordon is also survived by ten grandchildren: Dana Caldwell, Jessie, Reed and Tanner McGath, Abigail, Peter, Katie and Mandy Gordon, Evan Harris and Chloe Douglas.
In addition to his love of taking care of his patients, Dr. Gordon enjoyed many interests including: his love of animals, music, photography, sporting clay shooting, traveling the country by motor home, and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Toale Brothers, 40 N. Orange Ave. A funeral mass will be held at St. Martha's Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to The Child Protection Center and The Sarasota County Humane Society.

Doctor Gordon was one of a kind, a wonderful doctor who cared for children. He and Francessca cared for my great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with the family at this time.

To Francesca and family, Dr. Gordon was our pediatrician for nearly 22 years-he accepted Danny as a patient with no hesitation, and I remember when he came to our house on a house visit way past the days when doctors made house calls-we will truly miss him. Dear Francesca and Family,
I had the pleasure of working with and getting to know "The Capain" for almost five years. I am very thankful for having that privilege and feeling like yous had become my extended family. Lisa and I were saddened to hear of Ken's passing. He was an outstanding pediatrician, colleague and friend. I know he will be very much missed by his family, the medical community and the ever-so-many children fortunate to have him as their pediatrician.

Dr. Gordon was a wonderful Doctor he took care of my kids. And I also work at the Bahia Vista location for 5yrs. So his office was my family too. He will be miss and will keep Francesca and Family in Pray.

We was with Dr Gordon's office for just a short time but it was so nice to have him as a Dr he was so personable and kind to my children we will deeply miss him.
