Margaret Haber Obituary

Haber, Margaret
April 18, 1950 - Feb 13, 2017
Margaret Elizabeth Haber passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 13th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 66.
Margaret was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Robert and Mary Ellen Shope. She graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. She spent over 30 years as an educator in Sarasota County, and took great pride in enriching and advancing the lives of young people in the community. She was beloved by her fellow faculty members, and was known by students for her spirited and enthusiastic approach to education.
Margaret was kind, generous, and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. She was a voracious reader and an inspired poet. Margaret's greatest joy was her family. She took great pride in the happiness and achievements of her sons. Margaret recently became a grandmother, a new role that brought her great delight late in her life.
Margaret is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Zachary and Farral Haber and Scott and Whitney Haber; her granddaughter, Emilyn Ashley; her brother, Robert Shope; and her companion, John Ryder. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Ellen.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm Friday, February 17th at Church of the Palms in Sarasota, FL. Her family would like to give special thanks to her care team; namely, Dr. Dominick Cover and Dr. Phyllis Elsishans.

Maggie was my very first friend when I moved to Sarasota in 1975. As fellow teachers, we had much in common. I met Maggie at an exercise class and our friendship grew to include happy Saturdays at the beach. We shared lots of laughs and I treasured her friendship and wise advice. She was so thrilled to become a mother. I remember taking my sons to the pool with Scott and Zach! Our lives took different paths over the years, but I always remembered Maggie as a kind, caring friend with a great sense of humor. The world is a better place because of her incredible skill as a teacher, a loving mother and wonderful friend.

I just wanted to express my sincere condolences to Margaret's family and significant other.
I was one of her dialysis nurses in the hospital. In the past couple of years I got to know her pretty well when she was here. She was funny and irreverent and I liked her very much.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
