Mary Hansen Obituary
Hansen, Mary
April 24, 1945 - June 28, 2016
Mary Alice (Sissy) Raybuck Everhart Hansen, 71, passed away surrounded by family on June 28 at her home in Bradenton, Florida.
Mary was born on April 24, 1945 to Verna and Franklin Raybuck in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Mary was a part of the first graduating class from Southeast High School in Bradenton, Florida where she was crowned Seminole Coca Cola Princess. She received her LPN license from Santa Fe College, Florida. While working at her first nursing job at a hospital in St. Pete she lived on Treasure Island where she met Richard Everhart on a blind date. They soon married and moved to Paola, Kansas and had two daughters. A few facilities Mary dedicatedly and compassionately worked for during her 42 years of nursing: Miami County Health Department, Medical Lodge as Director of Nursing, Louisburg Nursing Home and Mediplex. During her nursing career she mentored many nurses and encouraged a few women to become the fabulous nurses they are today.
Mary loved life and always had a sunny disposition. As a young girl she loved traveling with her daddy and siblings on the circus circuit with their family owned circus. To this day Mary loved attending state fairs, eating corn dogs and funnel cakes. She lit up every room she walked into with her big smile and kind heart. The beach and the Gulf were her first love being a Floridian. She enjoyed bringing her girls to Anna Maria Island each summer. After her divorce from Richard and her girls graduating high school she moved back to Florida where she loved working in her yard, maintaining a beautiful, warm home and entertaining family and friends. She absolutely adored her 3 grandsons; showering them with kisses, dancing silly, reading books, attending games, playing outside and just being the best Mema and Mamow any boy could ask for. She was a good friend and mother to so many and will be missed dearly, but knowing she is at peace now with our Lord n Savior is comforting. It's never goodbye just see you soon…………..
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; the girls dad, Rick Everhart, Aunt Helen and Arline and Uncle Chuck; nephews, Mark and Michael Everhart, Matthew and Tyler Raybuck. She is survived by her two daughters; Kellie Everhart Maynard and husband Kevin and Shellie Everhart all from Texas; grandsons; Keegan and Karson Maynard and Nolan Everhart; sister, Martha and husband Jack Kaufman, and brother Buddy Raybuck of Bradenton, Florida. Ex in-laws; Larry and Carol Everhart and Alan and Lisa Everhart from Paola, Kansas; 5 nieces and 3 nephews. There will be no formal services, but a celebration of life will be scheduled for a future date in Florida and Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to a nursing scholarship thru the Melissa Education Foundation. Your contribution can be made out to MEF and mailed to Kellie Maynard at 206 Covey Lane, McKinney, Texas 75071.
