Raymond A. Gettert, age 64, of Winder, GA, passed away unexpectedly on Dec 11th, 2018. Ray was born in Davenport, IA and grew up helping out at the Prom roller rink that his parents owned. Ray lived in Venice, FL from 2000-2016. Ray was a skilled drummer who played with various local bands and toured professionally for ten years. Ray was a kind, gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready for fun and adventure. In addition to his music, Ray enjoyed hiking to waterfalls, walking along the beach, but most of all spending time with family.
Ray is survived by his wife, Allison Long, his daughter, Erica Gettert-Cady, son-in-law, Dan Cady, grandsons Dayton, Mason, and Hayden Cady and Owen Belman, as well as sisters Susan Baker (husband Tony), Linda Keckler (husband Dan), and Twyla Fuchs (husband Tom) in addition to four nieces, Angela, Nikki, Heather, and Tiffany and nephew Tony. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marcia Gettert and son Evan Gettert.
A celebration of Ray's life will be held at Toale Brothers Funeral Home in Bradenton, FL on Dec 21st at 1 pm. The family requests that any donations be made to Evansdream.org, a scholarship fund created in memory of his son Evan.
