Gifted math teacher and community volunteer Downing (Downey) Huber Dutterer went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 18, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Charles Willing and Dorothy Manwaring Huber Jr. of Jupiter Island, FL.
Born in Philadelphia, Downey lived in Sarasota for 35 years and taught math at Pine View School for the Gifted for many of those years. She earned degrees from American University and the University of South Florida.
She was one of God's most faithful servants by living each day giving and caring for others. She will be remembered for her compassion for others and passion to serve and touch peoples lives in her own special way. She loved her Sunday school class and her church family at Sarasota Baptist Church and enjoyed expressing her faith as an avid volunteer in the community.
Her children and grandchildren were her most precious gifts. She loved celebrating every milestone and accomplishment in their lives.
Cherishing her legacy are her son, Daniel Willing Dutterer, and his wife, Virginia, of Asheville, N.C.; and her daughter, Debby Dutterer Bullock-Benfield, and her husband, Brian, and their children, Justin Bullock, Chance Benfield, Jakob Bullock and Gracie Benfield of Hickory, N.C.
There are no words special enough to thank her dear and faithful friends, Ruth Danhires and Clara Wagler for loving and caring for her until the very end. The final two years of her life were blessed with her boyfriend Dennis Amber and his daughter, Dana, who came into Downey's life with perfect timing. Their special relationship made her smile and her heart warm!
