When I heard about a Border Patrol Agent being shot & killed, deep down I knew it was Brian. I kept about my days not reading the paper or watching the news. How could a man of such statue, honor, & integrity be taken from us? I later saw his picture flash across the tv while I was at the gym. I stopped what I was doing. I couldnt believe it was him. He was a great man. He talked about his job and I could tell how much he loved it. I did not know him through the work force but I am quite sure he was nothing short of amazing at his job. He was a man of integrity and honor. A true American Hero. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. A golden heart stopped beating, your precious hands at rest. "God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the BEST" In loving memory of Brian Terry. May he now rest in peace.

I saw Mike Baloughs note on a friends facebook. I thought to myself...I know that guy! Brian used to come in to my work and we would talk alot. He was as chatty as me..lol. I remember that I would worry about him being an Ecorse police officer and prayed he would get a new/safer job. Didnt know about his recent employment, but knew that was the kind of job he wanted. So sad to hear about his passing. so glad to have known him just for the moment. What a great smile. I do believe he died doing what he always wanted to do. Sorry he had to. Thanks Brian for keeping our borders safe. Blessings and comfort to your family.

A Phoenix Police Officer

December 22, 2010

Rest in peace brother. We have the watch from here.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

My heart goes out to Brian's family. I did not know him, but my family hunts in the area in Arizona that he worked. We often chat with border patrol agents when we are out there. I wonder if he is one we ever talked with...and it makes me very sad. I'm so thankful for his service to our country and for helping to make our desert safer. He made the ultimate sacrifice. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Prayer for Brian Terry

Officer Terry, no one asked you to serve your country and make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve and protect our freedom,

But you did.

No one asked you to go out to help and make our world and our country a better place,

But you did.

We all owe you our gratitude, our lives and our freedom to you, for you laid down yours for ours.

But sadly, we cannot.

What we can do , is to honor you, your Mother, and your family, who along with your family and your friends watched as you coffin came out of the hold of the aircraft that brought you home. That moment defined the depth of your resolve to the entire world.

And we will be forever grateful that your journey for the rest of the way home will be in the arms of God and Jesus who will carry you onto everlasting life.

Heavenly Father, we pray to you with fervent heart and devoted soul,

That you will watch over our brave protectors who watch our borders and shores for intruders.

Keep their resolve firm, their mission focused and their success fulfilled.

May they be always mindful that you are with them in spirit.

We are with them in thought, when they are away from u,

But together we are with them in soul, and heart as they strive for peace.

Dear Lord of mercy and forgiveness. May this prayer find its way to your heart,

Help us to support those who have fallen and their families cope with the loss.

Help us to understand that sacrifices are made to achieve success,

And help us to see that freedom is not free.

Amen
