Jack Shaefer Obituary

JACK D SHAEFER Jack D Shaefer, Jr., 72, of rural Hiawatha, passed away after a brief illness, at his home on November 14, 2024. Jack was born May 24, 1952, the oldest of two sons born to Jack and Kimiyo Suzuki Shaefer. Jack graduated from Sabetha High School in 1970. He attended college at Washburn, K-State, Highland Community College, and Peru State. He was an Army Veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was the Director of the Weatherization Assistance Program for NEK-CAP, Inc. for 34 years before he retired. Jack spent many hours volunteering for the Brown County Humane Society. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack is survived by his wife Phyllis Shafer, his brother Jeri Shaefer; three stepchildren: Cindi Johansen (TJ), Jeff Pilcher (Amanda), and Wade Pilcher (Monica); 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a niece Melanie Rodiguez, and a nephew Paul Shaefer. At Jack's request, no memorial service is planned.
