Carl Seitz Obituary
April 8, 1931 - January 30, 2022
Carl Henry Seitz, 90, of Conover, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at Forsyth Hospital.
He was born in Catawba County, the son of Abel Cromer Seitz and Ivey Punch Seitz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ervin Seitz, Glenn Seitz, Bobby Seitz; and his sister, Mary Seitz.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nadine Yount Seitz; his children, Theresa Seitz Reid (Larry) and Marcus Cromer Seitz (Ruth). His memory will be treasured by grandchildren, David Reid (Allison), Ellen Reid Mertens (Rob), Henry Seitz and Frank Seitz.
He graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1949, as Valedictorian. He graduated Lenior-Rhyne College and received his master's degree in education from Appalachian State University.
Carl retired after a 34-year career in Catawba County Schools. He taught 10 years at Sweetwater Elementary School and then was principal of Clyde Campbell Elementary School for 24 years.
He was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church serving in many capacities.
He was an avid gardener, an expert in Catawba County history and active in the Historical Association. In his spare time, he loved wood working and repairing antiques.
Camping and summer beach trips with his children and grandchildren were some of his favorite times.
A celebration of his life will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, Thursday, Feb. 3, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends in the church narthex at 11 a.m., prior to the service.

Sorry for your loss. I went to Clyde Campbell when he was there. He was my teacher in the 8th grade. He was a very nice man and a good teacher.I would see him out in the yard and should have stopped to see him. He probably wouldn't have remembered me, I didn't get called to the office like some of the others. I have thought of him often over the years. I lived on Kool Park Rd and walked to school. I still think of my teachers there. Again, sorry for your loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ms Nadine and the family he was such a sweet man I enjoyed my time with him when I was his hairstylist at Carillon Assisted Living, always so soft spoken and kind, may he rest in peace.
