GRANITE FALLS - Mr. Charles Warren Ryder, 68, of Falls Avenue in Granite Falls, has gone to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, after a period of declining health at his residence.
He was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Cherokee County to the late Sam Ryder and Delia Jane Swanson Ryder.
Mr. Ryder was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church and a retired employee of Siecor. He enjoyed racing, buying and selling on eBay, going to flea markets and other activities. Charles was a loving husband, brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Thurston and Bruce Ryder, and three sisters, Betty Richards, Jean Hildebran and Schuvon Triplett.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Loretta Sue Shull Ryder of the home; two sons, Charles Timothy Ryder and James "Jim" Warren Ryder and wife, Dawn, all of Granite Falls; three grandsons, Wesley Allen Ryder and wife, Amanda, Timothy Dustin Ryder and Caleb Lee Ryder, all of Granite Falls; his granddaughter, Chelsea Renee Ryder of Granite Falls; his great-granddaughter, Naylen Moon Ryder of Granite Falls; his brother, Johnny Eugene Ryder and wife, Peggy, of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Clara Sue Ryder Humphreys and husband, Tom, of Clinton, Doris Lynn Hildebran of Lenoir and Debbie Kay Ryder of Granite Falls; a sister-in-law, Lynda Ryder of Webster City, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Paul Shull of Clintwood, Va., and Fred Sigmon of Granite Falls; a nephew, Freddie Sigmon of Granite Falls; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Ryder will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Mackie-High Chapel, with the Revs. Wayne White and Joel Cook officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Mackie-High Funeral Home in Granite Falls.
Pallbearers for Mr. Ryder will be his three grandsons, Caleb, Dusty and Wesley Ryder, Josh Teague, Andy Watson and Johnny, Roger and Buddy Shull.
