Clyde Leger Obituary

VALDESE - Mr. Clyde Eugene Leger, 76, of Valdese, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Leger was born March 25, 1930, in Burke County to the late Victor Louis and Emma Icard Leger. He was a member of Abee's Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Hickory Hill Furniture Co. as a truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Hensley Leger; and a brother, Cecil Leger. Surviving are two sons, Allen Leger and Ronald Leger, both of Valdese; a brother, Ervin Leger of Morganton; and a sister, Margaret Graham of Valdese. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brandon Leger, Tracey Leger, Matthew Leger and Chad Johnson, all of Valdese, and Halee Leger of Morganton; and two great-grandsons, Benton Sigmon and Dalton "Scooter" Leger of Valdese. The funeral service for Clyde E. Leger will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Abee's Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Buddy Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow in Abee's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Monday, at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Burke County, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, N.C. 28690. An online guest book and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneralservices.com.
