Clyde E. Leger

VALDESE - Mr. Clyde Eugene Leger, 76, of Valdese, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Leger was born March 25, 1930, in Burke County to the late Victor Louis and Emma Icard Leger. He was a member of Abee's Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Hickory Hill Furniture Co. as a truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Hensley Leger; and a brother, Cecil Leger. Surviving are two sons, Allen Leger and Ronald Leger, both of Valdese; a brother, Ervin Leger of Morganton; and a sister, Margaret Graham of Valdese. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brandon Leger, Tracey Leger, Matthew Leger and Chad Johnson, all of Valdese, and Halee Leger of Morganton; and two great-grandsons, Benton Sigmon and Dalton "Scooter" Leger of Valdese. The funeral service for Clyde E. Leger will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Abee's Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Buddy Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow in Abee's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Monday, at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
