Doris Laws Miller NEWTON Doris Laws Miller, 61, of Newton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was born Oct. 25, 1951, in Caldwell County. She was the daughter of the late Richard Jesse Laws and the late Reba Price Laws. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roby Earl Miller and Thelma Potter Miller; and her beloved canine companion, Angel Miller. Mrs. Miller was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and she was devoted to her Christian faith. Mrs. Miller sang in the church choir and loved language, poetry, and songs. She loved to spend time with children and she never met a stranger. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Roby John Miller, of the home; sons, Scott Miller and wife, Karen, of Moravian Falls and Derek Miller, of Carrboro; two grand-doodles, Hope and Noah; four brothers, Larry, Bruce, Daniel and Roger Laws; and three sisters, Brenda Caldwell, Sandra Church and Ruby Laws. A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 30, at 4:30 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro with the Revs. Mark Hall and John Lewis officiating. The family will be receiving friends for Mrs. Doris Laws Miller, at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, this evening (Saturday , June 29) from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Compassion International Colorado Springs, CO 80997.
