July 17, 1935 - August 4, 2024
Doris Hollifield Stroud, 89, of Hickory, became whole again and joined her beloved husband and our precious Lord on August 4, 2024.
She was born July 17, 1935 in McDowell County to the late Thompson Hollifield and Kitty Wright Buchanan, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Anza Carter Stroud; sister, Ann Hollifield; stepfather, Doss Buchanan; and sister-in-law, Loretta Lingafelter.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael K. Stroud and wife Lori Newton of Hickory; sister, Dorothy Randolph of Monroe, NC; bonus grandchildren, Hailey Phan and husband Dat of Colonia, NJ, and Stewart Huffman and wife Sarah of Conover, NC, and their children, Johannah, Nolan and Lawson; brother-in-law, Kelly Stroud and wife Pam of Hickory; sisters-in-law, Nina Taylor and husband Robert of Conover, NC, and Rachel Stroud of Hickory; niece, Sue Cannan and husband Pete of Tehachapi, CA; and nephew, Peter Stroud and wife Nicole and their children, Carter, William, Wyland and Callie, of Timnath, CO.
Doris's greatest love was her family. She was a loving wife and mother. Doris loved to travel and enjoyed her time at their beach condominium in Cherry Grove, SC, for many years. She was a longtime member of Viewmont Baptist Church, Hickory, NC.
A celebration of life, officiated by The Rev. Dr. Andrew Rawls, will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 10 a.m., in the gathering area of Viewmont Baptist Church, 1246 2nd St NE, Hickory, NC 28601, where she was a member.
The family wishes to express deepest thanks to Doris's caregivers, Teresa, Paige, Wanda, Sandi, and Kerri and to the staff of Carolina Caring for the exceptional care given to Doris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Viewmont Baptist Church, 1246 2nd St NE, Hickory, NC 28601 or Gideon International.

Lori and family. I am so sorry to learn of Doris´s passing. I did not know her personally but I do remember seeing her at Viewmont Baptist. She was always such a pretty lady! Please know I am praying for all of you
