Edith Bailey Obituary

Edith Bailey VALDESE Mrs. Edith "Beadie" Shuffler Bailey, 88, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Edith was born on Dec. 21, 1922, in Burke County to the late Walter Aiken and Nonie Cannon Aiken. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired assembler, working for Saft and Valdese Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Shuffler; two sons, Carl and Ken Shuffler and one grandson, Jeffrey Shuffler. Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy Hudson, of Connelly Springs and Shirley Winn, of Valdese; one son, Jim Shuffler, of Valdese, and her beloved niece, Lavada Johnson. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 26, at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Bobby Hallyburton officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Memorials may be sent to Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 6908 Oak Ridge Church Road, Connelly Springs, NC 28612; or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
