October 12, 1929 - April 29, 2021
Emily Jeanne Fritz Boyd, 91, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Trinity Village in Hickory.
Born Oct. 12, 1929, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Leslie Fritz and Martha Young "French" Fritz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Leslie Boyd; and son, Richard Whittington Boyd.
Mrs. Boyd was a graduate of Hudson High School, Valedictorian, and Stephens College, St. Louis, Mo., Salutatorian. She was a member of Corinth Reformed Church for nearly 60 years, where she was active in Senior Bible Study Group, Women's Circle Leader, Consistory, and funeral meals.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven L. Boyd and wife, Vicki T. Boyd; grandson, Nathan Hunter Boyd, all of Hickory; brother-in-law, Joe Boyd and wife, Janice, of Brevard; niece, Betsy Garconnet and husband, Thierry, of Charlotte; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, at Corinth Reformed Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service. The committal service will be held in the church memorial garden. Mask and social distancing will be required. This service is available for live or delayed viewing at www.corinthtoday.org/live.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corinth Reformed Church, 150 16th Ave. NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
