Peggy Ann Adams Joyner
Sep 18, 1930 - Sep 19, 2025
Peggy Ann Adams Joyner, lovingly known by many as "Granny," peacefully passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Millers Creek, N.C., at the remarkable age of 95. Born on September 18, 1930, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to W.R. Adams Sr. and Minnie Blevins Adams. Her life was a beautiful testament to unwavering faith, deep devotion to family, and a spirit of service to others. As the proud matriarch of a large and loving family, Peggy's legacy will be cherished for generations, and her influence will live on in every heart she touched.
Peggy was welcomed into heaven by her parents; her husband of 71 years, William H. Joyner Sr. (Bill); sons, Billy, Jeff, and Mike Joyner; brothers, Junior, Jim, and Jack Adams; sisters, Ethel Adams Barber and Mary Lee Adams Hartman; and grandson, Joe Joyner. She is survived by her children, Brenda Joyner Legg, Bob (Merrilyn) Joyner, Deborah Joyner Hendrix, and Martha Joyner McCraw; sister, Linda Adams Cantrell; along with 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Peggy graduated from Griffith High School in 1948, and married Bill in July of that same year. They would later move from Winston-Salem to Mocksville, N.C., building not just a house, but a home, where they created a lifetime of memories filled with love and laughter.
After raising her children, Peggy pursued her love of numbers by founding Peggy Joyner's Income Tax Service, which she proudly owned and operated for 25 plus years. Her dedication, warmth, and sharp mind earned the trust of her many clients. A faithful member of Blaise Baptist Church, Peggy cherished her Sunday school class and the friendships she made there. She also loved being surrounded by friends and family, traveling, journaling, reading, and could often be found working a jigsaw puzzle or her daily sudoku.
The family wishes to thank all of Peggy's caregivers for their kindness and devotion, with special gratitude to her longtime caregiver and friend, Sharon, and to the staff of Gentiva Hospice of Wilkesboro who lovingly supported Peggy in her final days.
Services will be at Blaise Baptist Church in Mocksville, N.C., on Wednesday, September 24. Visitation begins at noon, with the funeral at 1 p.m., led by Pastor Ken Furches, and graveside service immediately following.
Memorial contributions in Peggy's honor may be made to Blaise Baptist Church, 134 Blaise Church Rd, Mocksville, NC 27028.
