George Harrison Reid, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital, Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, with family by his side, after a hard fought battle with Cancer.

George was born in Hickory, March 6, 1945, to Harrison Fuller Reid and Elizabeth Bowman Reid. He was the second child of five brothers and sisters, Sara, Stuart, Elizabeth and Joan.

He received his B.B.A. from the University of Mississippi in 1968. After graduation, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he started a family and a successful Commercial real estate investment company, and was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, until his health declined.

George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stuart; and sister, Sara.

He is survived by his beloved son, George Harrison "Harris" Reid Jr., and wife, Sally Haugh Reid, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Allison Reid Ash and husband, David Ash of San Antonio, Texas; their mother, Barbara Reid; grandchildren, Jack Reid, Margaret Reid and John Ash; his aunt, Peggy Jo Hefner of Dalton, Ga.; sisters, Joan Propst of Hickory, Libby Keenan and daughters, Kathleen and Elizabeth all of Houston, Texas; nephews, Wesley Reid, Darrin Reid, both of Hickory, and William Fairchild of Leesville, La.

There will be a visitation held for family and friends at the Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services in Houston, Texas, Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A small graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m., at Glenwood Cemetery.

He will be greatly missed by his family, but they are comforted in knowing he is with the Lord in Heaven, with all this friends and family who have gone before him.
