Gerald C. Goble

HIDDENITE - Gerald Carl Goble, 74, of 1979 Goble Road, Hiddenite, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at Carolinas Specialty Hospital in Charlotte. He was born in Alexander County on Jan. 15, 1933, a son of the late William Otha Goble Sr. and Alma Patterson Goble. Mr. Goble was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and a retired CPA, having owned his own firm. He was a member of Hiddenite Baptist Church, where he served as church treasurer for 48 years, deacon and a member of the Andrew Sunday school class. He also was a former member of the Hiddenite Ruritan Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Mae Hollar, and a brother, Paul Goble. Survivors include his wife, Athie Burgess Goble of the home; a daughter, Linda Anderson and husband, Mike, of Charlotte; a son, Larry Goble and wife, Tammy, of Stony Point; two grandchildren, Mark and Lauren Anderson of Charlotte; and two brothers, William O. Goble Jr. and wife, Roberta, of Taylorsville and Raeford Goble and wife, Lois, of Charlotte. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at Hiddenite Baptist Church, with the Rev. Scott Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Hiddenite Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hiddenite Baptist Church following the funeral service. The body will be placed at Adams Funeral Home from noon to 6 today, Friday, and 30 minutes prior to the funeral Saturday at Hiddenite Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Jeff Warren, Tim Keever, Gale Sharpe, Jerry Dellinger, Charles Baker and Lee Sinard. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class.
