Howard R. "Ron" Doble III BOONE Howard Ronello "Ron" Doble III, passed away at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at the age of 58 from complications of congestive heart failure. Ron is lovingly remembered by his father and mother, Howard and Barbara Doble, of Hickory; his brother, Mike Doble (wife, Darlene), of Banner Elk; and his sisters, Colleen Comer (husband, Bob), of Conover and Patty Johnson (husband, Darrell), of Hickory. Ron will be missed by his nieces, Jennifer Doble, of Hickory, Lauren Style (husband, Chuck), of Deep, Carrigan Doble and Madison Doble, of Banner Elk, and Jordan Johnson, of Chicago, Ill.; and nephews, Mark Comer, of Charlotte, Michael Comer, of Hickory and Jay Johnson, of Hickory. He is also survived by great-nephews, Drew and Ryan Settlemyre, of Hickory and J.R. Style, of Deep Gap. Ron is predeceased by his beloved wife, Michelle Doble. Ron was born in Charleston, S.C. Aug. 13, 1954. He grew up in Columbia, S.C. and attended and played football for Eau Claire High School. Ron moved to Hickory, graduated from Saint Stephens High School in 1973 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. He later moved to Banner Elk, and worked in Internet marketing with AppNet.com LLC. Ron was an accomplished musician, who had an amazing voice and was a talented guitarist. He was a voracious reader and had a passion for history and classic movies. He enjoyed the peace and tranquility of fishing in a quiet stream and a good round of golf. Ron was a lifelong USC Gamecock fan and had recently supported his nephew and the Wofford Terriers. Ron was a man of faith and no matter his struggles, never wavered in his love of God and belief in Jesus Christ as his savior. The visitation will be held at Hampton Funeral Services, 683 Blowing Rock Rd., Boone, NC Friday, Aug. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. The celebration of life service will follow at Hampton Funeral Services Friday, at 11 a.m. The body will lie in state at the chapel, from 10 to 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Gordon Noble. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Medi Home Hospice, P.O. Box 1357, Newland, NC 28607.
