Jimmie Willard Leatherman, 93, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 18, 1929, to the late June Burton Leatherman and Margaret Correll Leatherman in Catawba County.
Jimmie was a longtime member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. In his earlier years, Jimmie was once the owner of J.L. Frames, where he built frames and continued his lifelong career in the furniture industry. He was an active member of his church and community, helping anyone in need. Jimmie loved his family deeply and will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Margaret Huffman Leatherman; son, Gary W. Leatherman; eight brothers; and two sisters.
His memory is cherished by his survivors: his grandsons, Ashton Leatherman of Charlotte, and Josh Johnson and wife, Jhenifer, of Columbus, Ohio; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1:15 p.m. at Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
