Jo Ann Frye

February 15, 1944 - April 29, 2022

Jo Ann Miller Frye, 78, passed away at her home in Alexander County, Friday, April 29, 2022.

She was born in Mitchell County, to the late Howard Ray and Susan Young Miller Feb. 15, 1944. During her working career, she worked as a sewer in the furniture industry at Thomasville Furniture. Mrs. Frye liked to garden, cook, and travel during her free time.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Glenn L. Frye; and five siblings.

Those left to cherish the memory of Jo Ann includes her daughter, Donna Simmons; son, Russell Swanner; the father of her children, Edward J. Swanner; sister, Joyce Stamey; brother, Guy Miller; four grandchildren, Courtney Jimenez, Michael Simmons, Rylan Swanner and Christa Swanner; four great-grandchildren, Gabe Reed, Ariana Jimenez, Rumi Simmons and Rafe Simmons; and a number of special friends, especially Linda Schmitt.

A celebration of life will be held at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Ledger, Saturday, May 7, at 1 p.m. Pastor Bruce Cannon will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your mother and grandmother. JoAnn and I attended church together for many years. She was a precious friend and was dedicated to her church and her Lord.
JoAnn's memory will always remain alive in my heart. I will miss her greatly. Blessings to her entire family.
