Joan Moore Obituary

Joan Turner Moore

November 9, 1933 - May 19, 2024

Joan Turner Moore, 90, of Hickory, passed away at home on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Born November 9, 1933, in Lovelady, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Florence Anderson Turner. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Moore; her son, John A. Moore, Jr.; her sister, Margaret Sherrill; and her brothers, Perry Turner and Jerry Turner.

Joan attended Lenoir Rhyne College and worked in accounting and office management. In Dallas, TX, they owned a company and then retired to Fort Myers Beach where she was an administrator at a private school. They returned to Hickory to be with their family and she retired for real. They enjoyed traveling and visited Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.

Joan was an excellent cook with cakes as her known specialty. She was also an avid reader with a large and varied library in her home. Joan loved her family and hosted many holiday dinners for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for over 50 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin Drury; grandchildren, Aaron Hefner, Ben Moore, Stephanie Frye, and Katherine Drury; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held by the family.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
