Max Sherrill Obituary
March 15, 1935 - June 29, 2024
Max Edwin Sherrill, age 89, of Kaley Lane, Granite Falls, passed away, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his residence. He was born March 15, 1935, in Caldwell County to the late Tom Haden Sherrill and Veola Bowman Sherrill. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by siblings, Ralph Sherrill, Thelma S. Turnmire, Kathleen S. Frye, Tommy H. Sherrill, and Mary Ann Baugh; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Sherrill.
Mr. Sherrill was a lifelong member at Philadelphia Lutheran Church in Granite Falls, served his country as a police officer in the United States Army, and retired as a conductor after 36 years with Norfolk Southern Railroads.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Joan Ogle Sherrill of the home; sons, Mark (Regina) Sherrill of Granite Falls, and Myron Sherrill of Valdese; and two granddaughters, Lindsey Sherrill of New York and Leah Sherrill of Wilmington.
Graveside services will be held August 10, 2024, 11 a.m., at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls, conducted by Vicar Christopher Bass.
Military honors will be provided by the DAV.
Following the graveside service, the family will gather at Philadelphia Lutheran Church, 52 Pinewood Rd., Granite Falls, NC, 28630, for a time of fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC, 28645, or Philadelphia Lutheran Church in Granite Falls, 52 Pinewood Road, Granite Falls, NC, 28630.
