September 3, 1947 - May 25, 2021
Rebecca Jean Jenkins, 73, of Newton, slipped peacefully into her Father's arms Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Rebecca was born Sept. 3, 1947, in Catawba County, to the late Bill Elmore and Lovie Mabel Kale. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Walker; brother, Billy Elmore; and an infant son, Tommy Wayne Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Calvin Z. Jenkins of the home; two daughters, Tammy Walker of Conover, Sandra Phillips (Wes) of Cornelius; two sons, Tim Smith of Newton, Tony Jenkins (Karen) of Lincolnton; brother, Kenny Kale of Maiden; two sisters, Coleen Ward of Claremont, Barbara McCall (Joe) of Missouri; three grandsons, Christopher Walker, Matthew Smith, Daniel Jenkins; three granddaughters, Tiffany Smith, Kasey Gaddy, Hannah Jenkins; and six great-grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Ellie Walker, Emmalyn Walker, Leila Walker, Allyssa Smith, and Madeleine Gaddy.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m., at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover with Pastor Michael Geml officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m., at the church, prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran School in Conover.

We have no doubt that Rebecca is walking with the Lord and free of pain today . I loved walking with her around the neighborhood we had good things to talk about . She loved her family very much and would do anything for any of them. She loved Jesus and showed it in her everyday living.. we missed her these months of illness and will be happy that she is suffering no more.
