Robert Andrews Obituary

Dr. Robert "Bob" Andrews

August 21, 1934 - November 14, 2023

Dr. Robert "Bob" Andrews, age 89, of Newton NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Bob was born on Tuesday, August 21, 1934 in Massillon Ohio to the late George William and Lucinda Andrews. Bob was a loving and compassionate husband and father. He was soft-spoken, intelligent, and had a lifelong passion to learn. His love of learning and his many interests directed Bob's highly skilled career path and avocational pursuits.

After attending Kent State University, Bob worked for the Strategic Air Command as an aeronautical engineer. He was responsible for the testing and deployment of guided missiles. His career changed in 1969 when he earned his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Bob, as he was lovingly called, operated his own dental practice for the next 47 years, retiring in 2017. He was devoted to his patients and dedicated to providing excellent care.

Bob was a lifelong avid reader who enjoyed photography, astronomy, woodworking, and theater.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Barbara, and his sons, Scott Andrews (Heather) and Gregg Andrews (Lisa).

The family is forever grateful to the angels of the Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House for their compassionate and loving care.

The family will receive friends at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 217 2nd Ave NE, Conover, NC 28613 on November 26, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastern Catawba County Christian Ministry at PO Box 31 Newton, NC 28658 or at www.ECCCM.org.

The Andrews family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Conover, NC. Condolences may be sent to the Andrews family at www.drumfh-conover.com.

I worked for Dr. Andrews for the 42 years he was in practice in Catawba County. We started together on day one and ended retirement together
42 years later. He was the kindness and most extraordinary employer I had ever had .Barbara, Dr. Bob, and their sons were and still are my family as well. I will miss him so much. I was blessed to know and work for this amazing man. He was one of a kind. I loved him dearly. Barb, Scott and Heather, Gregg and Lisa, I love you with all my heart. Judy

I wanted to express my deepest sympathy to the entire family. Dr Andrews was my dentist form 1977 until his retirement...40 years! I don´t know how many times I read the " Everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten " poster he had on the ceiling above the chair.. I still remember a lot of it! Dr Andrews and Judy took real good care of me and I´m very appreciative of that. Again, my deepest sympathy to the entire family.
