Sharon Goodwin Obituary
Sharon S. Goodwin, a cherished member of the Hickory community, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at home. Originally from Sandy Springs, a suburb of Atlanta, Ga., Sharon had made Hickory her home since 1999, where she built a rich and fulfilling life surrounded by friends, family, and faith.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles James "Jim" Goodwin, DDS. She is also survived by her children, Tracey Edge Durham (Darrell), Kelley Edge Davis (Thadd), Kristin Edge Frierson (Paul), Wendy Goodwin Flynn (Chris), Charles James "Casey" Goodwin (Caitlin). Grandchildren, Courtney Sams (Caleb), Charles "Caldwell" Hunt, Evelyn Isabel "Izzy" Davis, Charles Goodwin and Dylan Goodwin. Great-granddaughter, Lillian Jane "Lily" Sams.
Sharon spent her life enriching the lives of others through her service and social engagement. She was devoted member of the Church of the Ascension, she held various positions over the years, contributing her time, talents, and heart to the church she loved so dearly.
A lifelong lover of music, Sharon was a board member on the Western Piedmont Symphony. She found great joy attending symphony performances and sharing that passion with those around her. She was also an active member of local dance clubs, where she expressed her love for the arts and community.
As a proud member of Lake Hickory Country Club (LHCC), Sharon cultivated many meaningful friendships and embraced opportunities to gather, laugh, and make memories. Whether at the club, at church, or among family, she was known for her graciousness, warmth, and vibrant social spirit.
Sharon will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in the music she loved, the faith she practiced, and the joyful connections she nurtured throughout her life.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m., at the Church of the Ascension in Hickory, N.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Western Piedmont Symphony.
