William Seitz Obituary

William Seitz NEWTON William Earl "Bill" Seitz, age 90, of Newton died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born July 13, 1920 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Ernest Clell and Myra Zoerada Sigmon Seitz. He was a graduate of Balls Creek High School and attended N.C. State University. He was a dairy farmer and formerly a supervisor in the furniture industry. He was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Newton, where he served in various capacities in church leadership; a Boy Scout leader, Charter member of BSA Troop 333, and served as scout master. Mr. Seitz served in the Army during WWII, training soldiers to operate tanks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Smith Seitz; second wife, Earline Pope Sigmon Seitz; and a son, Phillip Smith Seitz. Survivors include daughters, Myra (Trudie) Warren and her husband, Carl of Newton; Kathy Kiser and her husband, Bryson of Newton; and Elaine Link and her husband, David of Newton; sons, William E. Seitz, Jr. and his wife, Julia of Newton; and Clell Seitz and his wife, Rene of Taylorsville; daughter-in-law, Janie Seitz of Catawba; step-children, Ann Sigmon Fairaizl and her husband, Alan of Hickory; Julie Sigmon Filer and her husband, Gene of Charlotte; and Ronald Sigmon and his wife, Kathy of Hickory; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. James Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Lingle will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family will be Ernie Seitz, Freddy Link, Kelly Seitz, Wesley Warren, Jeremy Kiser, Macon Seitz, Brent Stewart, Tom Dishmon, Kyle Thompson, and George Green. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on today, Tuesday, May 24 at Willis-Reyn-olds Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be made to: St. James Lutheran Church, 1942 St. James Church Rd., Newton, NC 28658 or to Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658 A special thanks to the Carillon Assisted Living of Newton "family" and friends and to the staff and caregivers of the Palliative Care Center for their attention and care. You will always live in our hearts and prayers.. You will be missed by many. My fondest memory of Bill was when Carillon said we couldn't call him and Earline Mawmaw and Pawpaw.. Bill said I wont answer to nothing else.. He loved everyone and everyone loved him.. 3rd shift girls
