James Richard Page

1928 - 2025

James Richard Page, a/k/a Jim, Jimmy, Pagie, Dada and Big Daddy, passed peacefully at his home in Marble Falls, Texas on February 14, 2025, joining his wife of over 50 years, Kathleen Marie Page. Standing 6'1, Jim seemed larger than life to those who knew him. He never met a stranger, exuded strength, was kind, caring, possessed a wicked sense of humor, and laughed often. Jim was a straight shooter with a big heart. He was loyal to family, friends, and his beloved Texas A&M.

Jim was born in Lampasas, Texas, on November 24, 1928, and is survived by his children; Katherine Oholendt (Mark), Sharon Dorris (Steve), Patricia Page-Murphy (Tom), Robert Sean Page (Mary) and Robert Claborn Page (Laura); grandchildren Jason Dorris (Val), Nicole Stokes (Ryan), Lauren Oholendt, Kyle Oholendt (Lauren), James Oholendt, Makayla Murphy, Darden Page, and Josephine Page; great-grandchildren Leo Hoffman-Oholendt and Perry Stokes; nephews and nieces, cousins and friends, including but not limited to, Felix Camacho, Tanker Harris, and his precious Sarah Jane.

Jim grew up during the Great Depression. He was the baby of the family which included his brother Otis and sister Dorothy. Dorothy raised her baby brother while his mother Jewel worked at a department store supporting the family in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduating from Jefferson High school at the age of fifteen, Jim was admitted to Texas A&M. He was in the B -troop Calvary, established life-long friendships, and thrived during his formative years, forever branding him "Old-Army."

After college, Jim met and married Helen Thornton with her son, Steve, in tow. Shortly after the wedding, Jim was stationed in Germany during the Korean War in the 2nd Armored Division, where he obtained the rank of Captain as a tank commander. Jim and Helen were together for 24 years and were parents to three girls: Katherine, Sharon and Patricia. Later Jim would meet and marry Kathleen. The couple had an active work and social life while also raising two sons: Sean and Clay. Jim was involved in many of his kids' extracurricular activities, establishing friendships along the way.

Jim and Kathleen would become endowed members of the 12th-Man Foundation. Jim went to hundreds of football games at A&M throughout his life. Jim was immensely proud of all his children's and grandchildren's achievements.

Jim spent over thirty five years with Moore Business Forms as a top salesman. All the Page family and friends enjoyed weekends at a lake house on LBJ lake, creating many great memories. After retiring, Jim and Kathleen moved to a home at the eighth hole on Hidden Falls Golf Course in Marble Falls, Texas. Jim was a sixty-year member of the Masonic order, a past member of the Alzafar Shrine, a fifty plus year member of A&M former students, Vice President of the Texas A&M Former Students Association, and past President of the San Antonio A&M Club. He was also a member of St. John the Evangelist church. An avid and accomplished lifelong golfer, Jim developed close friendships with fellow players. He was likewise stellar at gin. He traveled the world with Kathleen to play golf courses including St. Andrew's. Jim had six holes in one, four of which occurred at Hidden Falls. He was ninety-four when he recorded his last hole-in-one while playing for the ROMEOS (really old men enjoying outdoor sport). Jim recently participated in an Honor flight to Washington D.C. with several fellow veterans. Jim received the special honor of laying a wreath at the tomb of the "Unknown Soldier." The trip meant so much to him; thank you Jess.

The family would like to thank so many friends that checked on Jim and brought him gifts, read with him, watched copious amounts of games on T.V. (golf, football, basketball, and the Astros!) and fed him well. Especially, but not limited to Sharon & Bill Leddon, Mary & Jon Gislason, Jess & May Lofgreen, Rob & Mary Ellen Paul, Felix, Tanker and so many others. The family would also like to thank the hospice nurses and caregivers who took such amazing care of Jim. Finally, the family gives its deepest gratitude to Rose Armendariz, with whom Dad was able to live out his final year with dignity, respect, love and a whole lot of great food. The family is grateful to all of you. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Rosary & Funeral Mass for James Richard Page at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 105 RM 1431, Marble Falls, Texas, on Friday, March 14 th , 2025, at 10:30 AM. Interment of the ashes will directly follow Mass at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4, South Burnet, Texas, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, VetRide and Honor Flight Austin, both are located in Burnet. The 12th-Man Foundation at Texas A&M.
