Dolores "Doe" Roach Obituary

Dolores (Doe) Helen Roach, 93, of La Crosse passed away at her home in Eagle Crest South on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  Doe was born on May 11, 1930 in La Crosse WI to Harvey and Virginia Moe.  Her stepfather, Vernon Dillingham, was an important father figure to her after her father’s death.

On October 14, 1950, Doe married Ronald Roach in La Crosse.  They were married for 70 years before his passing in 2020.   She was a lifelong homemaker focusing her time on taking care of their two children, Vicki and Bob.

Doe and Ron loved their houseboats and spent most of the summer on the Mississippi River.  They also enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Florida for many years.

Doe loved to knit.  She made baby clothes for many of the grandchildren and did volunteer knitting for local organizations.  She was also a dedicated Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan.   She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Parish and Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and did volunteer work there for many years.  She especially enjoyed her talks with Sister Cathy and Father Konopa.

Doe is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Mark) Gilbertson, and her son, Bob (Lynn) Roach of La Crosse; six grandchildren, Erik (Lynnaus) Gilbertson, Michael (Stacy) Gilbertson, Christy (Jamie) Woods; Nick (Lyndsay) Roach, Adam Roach, Tyler (Sarah) Roach;  10 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Katelin, Todd, Mikala, Mattie, Erin, Owen, Isaiah, Landon, and Wyatt.   She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents, an infant son, and her sister Shirley Kuehn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Doe on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Committal will be held in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of services.

The family extends thanks to the Eagle Crest South and Gundersen Hospice staff for taking excellent care of Doe.   Memorials are suggested to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at 2136 Weston Street, La Crosse.

Vicki, Bob and families please accept Ron and my deepest sympathy. Take comfort in the fact that she is at peace now and reunited with her loved ones that went before her. I hope she is having a martini in heaven with my mom. Doe was kind and caring and I always looked forward to visiting when she was in town. I loved her very much. Rest in Peace Aunt Doe you will always be in my heart.

Delivering food to doe every night for supper and always seeing her smile made my day, each time I saw her she was reading a new book. She was well loved by many
