David Glei Obituary
Dave graduated from North Adams-Jerome High School in 1954 and went on to attend Michigan State University short course. He served his county in the United States Army National Guard and Army Reserves. Dave was the co-owner and operator of Glei's Orchard and Greenhouse in Hillsdale, retiring after 60 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Hillsdale Free Methodist Church giving of his time and talents to service for numerous church boards and activities. Dave also was a member Hillsdale Farm Bureau and The Gideons International where his greatest joy was handing out testaments to children. He enjoyed fishing golfing, sailing, flying and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
In addition to his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Edith Glei, Dave is survived by two sons, Daniel (Leigh) Glei of Abingdon, Virginia and Steven (Cathy) Glei of Ypsilanti; four granddaughters, Sarah, Rebecca (Derrick) Labby, Hannah (Jebediah Houpt) and Abigail Glei and one brother, Owen (Judy) Glei of Hillsdale.
Memorial services for David Glei will take place Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Hillsdale Free Methodist Church with Pastors Keith Porter and Dave Turner officiating. Family interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale. Masks and social distancing are required for all indoor gatherings. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. David's memorial service will be available on his memory page at www.eaglefuneralhomes.com and also on Edith Glei's Facebook page at a later date for those who will be unable to attend in-person.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hillsdale Free Methodist Church, The Gideons International or Elara Caring Hospice.

I remember him from church . his smile face cheerfully gift he had . and him working at gliers. Him and his wife were nice people
And very nice and doc outing at his pool years ago. Use clean there house . years ago. There children was nice also. We never forget dave. Miss him dearly keep his family in prayers .

It was a blessing to know Mr.Glei and Edith.I was blessed to be a part of David's caregiving .His smile always brightened my day.He will be very missed .My heart goes out to Edith and all his family.God bless you all.
