Connie Darlene Meikle Carter was born December 4, 1938, and passed away November 23, 2024 after a 10 year struggle with dementia.
Darlene was born to George and Vivian Meikle in Logan UT. She and her sister Emma grew up in Smithfield UT helping their dad raise turkeys. She graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State University. It was there that she met her sweetheart, Lyle Carter from Preston Idaho and after a year of courtship they were married on July 31, 1959, and later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Their early married years were spent in Logan, Ut until Lyle and his brothers started Carter Brothers Automotive in Preston Idaho.
Darlene and Lyle raised their 3 daughters in Preston. Vickie, Cathy and Shauna completed their family. Mom and Dad just celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Mom worked for Utah Power and Light for 24 years where she made many long-lasting friendships. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she deligently served in Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. She loved to participate in Golden Green Balls and Road Shows. Mom had a good work ethic in every aspect of her life. She was a maticulous housekeeper, grew beautiful zineas, always had a beautiful smile and dressed to the nines. Dad pushed mom out of her comfort zone where she learned how to water ski and fish all while being afraid of water and not able to swim.
Moms love, compassion and kindness will live on through future generations.
Darlene is survived for her husband Lyle of 65 years, daughters Vickie (Steve) Wanner, Cathy (Doug) Talbot and Shauna (Bruce) Smith and her sister Emma Clifford. The family extends heartfelt thanks to our Dad for his unwavering love and compassion in taking care of mom. We also want to thank Autumn Care and Aegis Hospice for their tender care over the last year.
