Edna Hardy Obituary

Edna Hardy
August 21, 1937 - October 5, 2016
Edna Louise Smoot Hardy, 79, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016.
Edna was born in Brigham City on Aug. 21, 1937, to A.V. and Martha Millard Smoot. She graduated from Box Elder High School. She married her sweetheart, Dee Hardy, in the Logan LDS Temple on Sept. 23, 1955, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Together they have built a successful family owned business, Tuleview Dairy, to include their sons, son-in-law and many grandsons working side by side. Edna was very involved in the business as office manager for many years and drove corn trucks and swathers, contributing to the business in every way. Edna and Dee were very involved in many dairy organizations on both state and county levels. They enjoyed traveling throughout the world with many dear friends sharing their same love of the dairy industry.
Edna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very involved in its organizations. Together, she and Dee served at the LDS Conference Center, as ordinance workers at both Ogden and Brigham City LDS temples and served an 18-month LDS mission in the India Bangalore Mission. These experiences have strengthened their bond as a couple and instilled in their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren a devotion to the gospel, family and service.
Edna and Dee enjoyed everything they did together, including travel, golf, water and snow sports and time at their Bear Lake cabin. Her greatest accomplishment was by far her family, and together she and Dee spent countless hours supporting them in many sports and activities. Edna will be greatly missed, cheering them on and especially her unconditional love no matter the outcome or score.
Edna is survived by her husband, four sons and three daughters: Brian (Dalea) Hardy, Jeff (DeAnna) Hardy, Jill (Kent) Jensen, Dana (Andy) Yeates, Kim (Darin) Sorenson, Chad (Latisha) Hardy and Chris (Jenny) Hardy, 31 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren, also her siblings: Rulon Smoot, Alene Thompson, Bill (Karla) Smoot, Kathy Young, Dave Smoot, Dick Smoot, and in-laws Kirk Nelsen, Karen Smoot Nelsen and Jim Bunting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Smoot, two sisters, Martha Jean Bunting and Joan Nelsen, two brothers-in-law, Reed Thompson and Pete Young, one sister-in-law, Donna Smoot, and one great-granddaughter, Abbe Lu Thompson.
Special thanks to the University of Utah and ALS Foundation and Hearts and Home Hospice.
Funeral services for Edna will be held Monday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. in the Brigham City West Stake Center, 895 N. 625 West, Brigham City, UT. Viewings will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 East, Brigham City, and again Monday, Oct. 10, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.

Dear Dee and Family, my condolences on your loss. I have such great memories of Edna and the Hardy family. I love you all and wish I could be there to hug each and every one of you. I haven't seen Edna, nor many of you, in quite a few years and yet I feel there is a hole in my heart and that part of my life is missing now that she is gone. I can't imagine how it feels for you all.

Every time I drove past the house I had to honk...my way of saying Hi and I love you...it didn't matter that no one even knew it was me...or that someone might not even be home to hear me honk! I had to do it. I look forward to maybe doing it again the next time I'm in UT. May you someday find Peace with Edna's passing.

Much love and hugs to all, from Nebraska. I love you Edna. May you rest in Peace.
