Gary Norman Obituary

Gary Grant Norman passed away April 2, 2013, from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 52. Gary was born in Logan, Utah, and grew up with his large and close-knit family in Paradise, Utah. Gary worked hard and loved to play football.
All who met Gary immediately liked him. He served honorably in the England London South Mission for two years and was married to Angela Batty in the Logan LDS Temple on Sept. 10, 1982. He graduated from Utah State University in 1986.
Gary moved with his family to California in 1992 and has spent much of his professional life in the construction industry and, most recently, expanding into business and insurance. Gary was sincerely respected by the members of his church where he had served faithfully in many different positions throughout his life.
Most importantly, Gary is genuinely loved by his family where he worked tirelessly to provide for them not only temporally but also intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. His daughters will deeply miss working by his side in their garden and beautifully landscaped yards. His neighbors will miss reaping the rewards of a bountiful harvest. His family will miss his example of quietly continuing on until the task was completed.
Gary is survived by his wife Angela Batty Norman; children Andrew and Elke, Daniel and Susan, Thomas, Sarah, and Rachel; grandchildren Kyle and Seija; parents Grant and Linda Norman of Paradise, Utah; and siblings Paul and Pam Norman, Nancy and Dennis Olsen, Mark and Dianna Norman, Janette and Scott Rogers, Becky and Greg Hendrickson, Linda Marie and Dale Richards, Bonnie and Ian Harding, Malissa and Keith Potter, Julie Norman, Teresa and Ben Jones, and Lisa and Marty McBride.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, in Turlock, Calif. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Paradise Cemetery.

I attended Gary's memorial today, in Turlock CA,. I had the honor of working with Gary while we officiated High School Wrestling matches. While I did not know many of his family, when they spoke of him today, I found myself nodding in agreement. It was as if I would have said the same thing about him. His quiet nature, selflessness and willingness to help were recurring themes, and that was the man I knew too... And based on what I heard today he shared that with all... He was a CONSISTENTLY good man!
