Ronda Hyde Obituary

Ronda Thurston Hyde, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away Feb. 3, 2011. Ronda was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Hyde Park, Utah. She is one of five children born to Orma Adella Christensen and Orion James Thurston. She married Vooris Rosel Hyde on Dec. 17, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they made their home in Hyde Park where they raised three girls.
As a girl, she learned to be thrifty and became skillful at canning, gardening, sewing and cooking, which she continued throughout her life. Ronda spent countless hours in charity work. She knitted, crocheted, and sewed many items for family and friends. She is especially known for her beautiful, knitted baby sweaters.
She served as a Relief Society president twice and accepted other church callings with dedication. Her favorite assignment was teaching Sunbeam children. All the children loved her. She enjoyed genealogy and continued to serve when she was ill by doing Family Search Indexing and had indexed over 37,000 names.
Ronda worked at The Herald Journal, in the Cache County Recorder's office, and then was an abstractor at Hickman Land Title Company for nearly 40 years where she cherished many friendships. One of her colleagues stated that Ronda knew all the workings of the business.
Throughout her life, Ronda faced many challenges and taught her family how to endure with faith and courage. We honor and revere her for the legacy she left.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula Hyde, Hyde Park, Janice (Craig) Downs, South Jordan, and Sheila (Wayne) Potter, Roosevelt, and by a brother, Leo (Saundra) Thurston, Bountiful, and a sister, Portia (Garth) Anderson, Hyde Park, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Thirol Thurston, and sister, Camille Perkes,
As a family, we wish to thank Dr. Michael Stones and other doctors, hospice, family, and friends for their support and compassionate care of Mom.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Hyde Park 9th Ward Chapel on Center Street. A viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, and 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery. Dear Paula and Family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. She was a very kind person. She also cared deeply about her daughters and wanted to know how they were doing. She was a great support to you all! She loved coming into Paula's classroom and help any way she could.

You all probably don't remember me but I do have memories of you. I am sorry to hear of your mom's passing. We lost my dad, Weldon Perkes, in July and it is a difficult thing. We didn't live in Hyde Park most of our lives but we still consider it our hometown for when we were little. Our condolences go out to you all and your families. Your mom was a wonderful person. Sincerely, Kathy Perkes Bird

I have so many wonderful memories of working with your mom at Hickmans. She was truly a special friend and mentor. She had unbelievable patience and always a cheerful attitude. She loved each of her family and her eyes would light up as she spoke of you. I know she has blessed countless lives just as she has blessed mine. May you have peace as you reflect on all she has done to serve you and others as well.
