Tonya Fife Obituary

Tonya LaMont Fife passed from this life on to the next on Nov. 3, 2014. She was born May 9, 1963, to Paul Roy LaMont and Barbara (Rusty) Ellen Barlow LaMont.
Dynamic and determined, Tonya filled her childhood with camping, tree climbing and horseback riding. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing ball. Like the rest of her spunky family, Tonya loved to play, and she was good at it. She also learned to cook at a young age. These hobbies and interests stayed with her throughout life.
The second oldest of five children, Tonya filled the role of worker bee. Weeding, hauling hay and bucketing water to the animals were familiar tasks to her on the family farm. She helped with cooking, canning and raising her two younger brothers. She always found great personal satisfaction in a tough job well done.
After working at the family A&W as a teenager and graduating from Sky View High School, Tonya moved to Salt Lake City to attend cosmetology school.
She thoroughly enjoyed her time and developed lifelong friendships. Her new career in hairstyling was one part of a bright life she was very happy with.
In 1984, Tonya received an LDS mission call to Toronto, Canada. She devoted all her energy to serving her Heavenly Father, proselyting full-time for 18 months. Her mission proved to be the foundation for teaching her children. Her testimony of and love for God permeated all aspects of her life.
Tonya's three sons, Tony, Casey and Bronson, were her pride and priority. She never tired of singing their praises and recounting their accomplishments. Her children were central sources of her hope, health and happiness.
Tonya walked a path of hardship and trial, but she always did her best with what she had. She made a point to learn from her struggles and used her personal experience to raise her sons to become good men, hard workers and finishers of what they started. Her love and dedication live on in the honorable lives of her sons and her soon-to-be grandson.
Tonya is survived by her sons, Tony Scott (Paige) Fife, Casey Paul Fife, and Bronson Brian Fife (currently serving in the Mexico Monterey North Mission), her father Paul LaMont, sisters Terrie (Jeff) Curtis and Tamra (Corey) Kendrick, and brothers Craig Roy (Diane) LaMont and Tom DeVere (Brenda) LaMont, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ellen Barlow LaMont (Rusty), and an infant son, LaMont Fife.
A donation account is open at Lewiston State Bank for those who would like to assist with the financing of flowers, funeral services and Bronson's mission.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 8, at the Lewiston 1st Ward, 10 S. 1600 West, Lewiston. Friends may call at the church from 12-1:30 p.m.. Interment at Lewiston cemetery.

I served my mission in Toronto Canada and was in the same District with Tonya in the summer of 1984. I remember her easy going nature and love of life. She had a great smile and was always fun to be around. She cut my hair a few times while I was there. She always did a fantastic job and saved me a bunch of money I would have had to spend at a barber. She was way more fun to be around and I always trusted her! I miss her! We lost touch for so many years and then re-united through Facebook a few years before she passed. I had moved to Layton Utah and was looking forward to getting together with her to hang out and catch up. I will always regret that I didn't get the chance sooner. I know that she is helping others and being the awesome daughter of God that she is and always will be! Can't wait to see her again. I miss you dear friend!

Terrie, I am very sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed knowing both you and Tawnya. You both made riding that Clarkston bus to school everyday more bearable. I loved Tawnya's energy she used to cut my hair and I enjoyed talking to her so much. She will be greatly missed.

Tonya, we met as missionaries in 1984, in Toronto, serving together we became close friends....we lost touch over the years and reconnected on facebook just a couple years ago....it has been wonderful catching up on our lives and getting to know each other all over again....you sent me a message on Oct.25th and I will forever regret not responding more quickly....it is only because of my knowledge and faith that I know we will meet again....and although I am confused and at a complete loss, my life was blessed to have been your friend....this world will not be a better place without you....until we meet again Sister Lamont....rest in peace.

Casey and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the sorrow in your hearts. Knowing Casey, I can tell he was raised right! He has a great spirit and I am sure a lot of that came from his mother. May you find peace in the gospel and peace in knowing that she has been released from the sorrow she felt. Casey, live your life to make her proud! With deepest sympathy,
