Dave Elhart, age 55, of Hamilton passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children and grandchildren: Matt Elhart and Katie Auchtung (Austin), Katie and Nate Dykema (Olivia), Ethan and Jamie Elhart (Abram and Simon); step-children: Samantha and Tate Kalawart, Stephanie Emelander, Elliot Emelander and Ethan Emelander; brother Tim and Michelle Elhart; mother-in-law Ginger Misner; brother-in-law Paul Hammond; mother of his children Sandy and Mark Lawless, and several nieces and nephews.
Dave graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1981 he attended Ferris State for a year and worked at Herman Miller for 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Dorie Elhart.
Dave deeply loved his wife Elizabeth, his children and grandchildren; and was happiest when he was spending time with them.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association. www.yntemafh.com

I just found out about Dave's passing today, 3 months after the fact. Dave and I met in Kindergarten at South Side Christian, and became childhood friends. We spent many good times together through the years, and graduated together from Holland Christian High School. We eventually lost touch as we moved into adulthood, and I regret we'll not be able to reconnect anymore in this life. But Dave will always be my friend, and he will always be one of those cherished formative friendships. God bless you my old friend, and peace and comfort to your family.

I was shocked today when I heard about Dave's passing. Having been gone for over a year now, you dear folks are among the ones I have missed the most. I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn't stayed in touch with Dave over the years. We grew up together, skipped Catechism at Faith CRC in favor of going to the beach, went to Holland Christian, were room mates the year he was at Ferris, and probably managed to find other mischief to get into during that time. Over the years I've reminisced about those teenage years, and often wondered where Dave landed. I can see by the other condolences that he was well loved by friends and family.
