Herman Schierbeek Obituary

Herman J. Schierbeek, 90, passed from earth into the waiting arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Herm was a gentle, kind man, with the quiet confidence of God's saving grace in his life, and loved by his Lord, his family, and his friends. He was the office manager of West Michigan Furniture for many years, known for his careful attention to detail. He also spent several years working at Compaan Door. He was a long-time member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church. He and his wife, Ruth, enjoyed 60 years together, including much traveling in retirement. They were loyal cheerleaders for their grandchildren at various events, and enjoyed many great-grandchildren.
Ruth preceded him in death in 2012. Surviving are his children, Elaine and Don Dykstra, Joyce and Jeff Pett, Ernie Schierbeek, Londa and Junior Post; 13 grandchildren, Dan (Grace) Dykstra, Sarah (Jeff) Burgess, Ruthanne (Dale) Slotman, Andrew Dykstra, Jennifer Pett, Kim (Chad) DeJager, Kyle (Haley) Pett, Caitlin Schierbeek, Anna Schierbeek, Carlie (Andy) Shults, Brady Post, Zoe Post, and Keaton Post; 16 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Caroline Schierbeek, Gert Hulst, Melvin and Rhona Hulst; many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Boersma Cottage for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church St., Holland. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to Holland Christian Schools. The family is being served by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, www.langelandsterenberg.com.
