Jerry Kruithof Obituary
Jerry was born to Gerrit Kruithof and Hattie (Dozeman) Kruithof. He graduated from Holland High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1955, he married Lucille Vanden Bosch. He retired from Fris Office Outfitters in 1998.
Jerry enjoyed fishing since he was a small child. If the fish were biting, he caught them. He enjoyed traveling with Lucille, who owned Lucille's Motor Coach Tours.
He was a former member of Bethel Reformed Church in Holland until they closed. He is a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Holland. He was active in church his entire life, serving as Vice President of Consistory, Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Catechism Teacher, Youth Leader, Choir Member, and numerous committees including Classis and General Synod.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters and brother-in-law, Verna (Gordon) Ryzenga, Edith (Bern) Berghorst, and Amy (Don) Strabbing; son-in-law Lloyd DeKoster; parents-in-law, Lewis and Ann Vanden Bosch; brother-in-law Art Barkel; twin great granddaughters, Maya and Leah Vander Kooi.
He is survived by his wife Lucille of 63 years; children Deb (Jack) Bosch, Diane (Denny) Vander Kooi, Dan Kruithof, Dawn (Michael) Payne, and Dean Kruithof; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis Barkel, Bob (Shirley) Vanden Bosch, Barb (Cal) Janssen.
Funeral services with military honors will be 11:00am Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Trinity Reformed Church, 712 Apple Ave., Holland. Rev. Deb Yurk will officiate. Committal service will be held at the church with a lunch to follow.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00pm Wednesday, November 28 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Reformed Church Adult Ministries or to Spectrum Health Hospice.

It was an Honor and a Pleasure working along side Jerry when I worked with him at Fris Office Outfitters River Avenue Store as a Salesman from 1986 to 1992. Jerry used to ask me to relate some of my many stories from my work as a Radio Announcer at W.H.T.C. from 1978 right up until I took the Sales opening at Fris with him when we first met. After that, it was only because of Jerrys hard work with me, that a began to learn my way around selling Office Supplies for a while instead, and became the stores Computerized Typewriter Salesman, and extremely enthusiastic about so many pens!
Customers, Fellow Employees at Fris; seemingly ALL of us knew that if WE couldnt figure it out, Jerry ALWAYS had the answer!! Jerry would teach you the product, the catalog number, and everything about anything in the store so you would retain the information the next time, no problem.
I think everybody who met Jerry just loved him right away. The reason was really quite simple. He had a gifts of genuine caring, listening, and selfless and constant giving of himself, and it was all unconditional. He was a very, very special and wonderful man! I really enjoyed working with him.
