Kenneth Mokma

Kenneth Mokma age 79, of Holland, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 23, 2014, after a brief battle with leukemia.
Ken attended Central Wesleyan Church for 28 years and had previously served as a deacon and active member for many years at Pillar Church. He was a salesman for 35 years at Hamilton Distributing, Inc. Ken was an avid supporter and former School Board Member of Holland Christian Schools, a lifelong member of the Holland Fish and Game Club and Wildlife Unlimited of Ottawa and Allegan Counties, and he served in the Michigan National Guard.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Josie Mokma; his first wife, Donna in 1985; and his second wife, Marcia in 2014.
Ken is survived by his children, Kurt Mokma of Holland, Kathy and Mike Nutting of Ludington, Caralyn and Gary Van Spronsen of Jamestown, Merri anne and R. Jay Ter Haar of Holland, Sally and Robert Boeve of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth and Robert Vander Lugt of Florida, Janice and Robert Vollink of Holland, Joan and Richard Broersma of Zeeland; in-laws, Carolyn and Ron Simpson of Atlanta, GA; Marijane and Earl Mead of Ohio, Earl Borr of Portage, MI, Bernice Whitefleet of Holland, Lloyd Van Slooten of Holland; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor the faith and life of Ken Mokma is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, December 1 in the Chapel of Central Wesleyan Church, 446 W 40th St., Holland. Rev. Lynn Bruce will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visiting hours are scheduled for 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St., Holland.
