Augustus Hammill Obituary

Augustus "Gus" Hammill, was born Feb. 18, 1933 in McCall Creek, Mississippi, was a resident of Houma for 43 years and current resident of Livingston, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday Jan. 6, at Bethel Baptist Church in Livingston. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at 2 p.m. in Louisiana National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fleet Wallace Jr., Tommy Wallace, Happy Wallace, Danny Mullins, Ben Andrews, Cody Hall and Sid Stafford.
He is survived by the love of his life, Dorthula Wallace Hammill; sister, Marceil Haynes, of Houma; his faithful Dachshund, Sir Tuk; and many devoted nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Clara B. Hammill; and brother, David Hammill.
Gus was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith.
Renaissance Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

So sorry to learn of the passing of Gus, a most honorable and gentle man. He is now at the feet of Jesus rejoicing with the other saints. Tuk & I loved him so very much.
