Kathey Lirette Obituary

Kathey Marie Lirette, 61, a native and resident of Houma, LA, died Monday, June 13, 2016.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16 and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, June 17 at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-six year, Gene Lirette; son, Cody Lirette and wife, Jill; daughter, Corie Lirette Jernigan and husband, Joe; sisters, Phillis Portier, Yvonne P. Guidry and husband, Lawrence, and Mable P. Croker and late husband, Jimmie; step-daughter, Britney Jernigan, and two step-grandchildren, L.J. and Amyra; and grandchildren, Jobie Jernigan and Mia Lirette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Portier Sr and Ora Marie Bergeron Portier; brothers, Alvin J. Portier Jr., Randy J. Portier; and sisters, Bessie M. Portier, Lillian P. Charpentier, Margaret P. Derrick.

She was a member/parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.

Kathey loved spending time with her family and friends; whom she dearly loved.

She had a love of nature.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her; but never forgotten.

So sorry for your loss. My late husband, Billy Seal, and I lived in the neighorhood on Bayou Blue with Gene and Kathey. Great people and neighbors. I just found out today that Kathey passed away. My thought and prayers go out to your entire family.

My heart and prayers are with yall during this time. I still cant believe she is gone. I close my eyes and hear her laugh and see her smile. She was an amazing woman who always made me feel loved. She was definitely great for my self-esteem! I know she is watching over you and spreading her wings. Keep your faith and be there for each other. If you need anything at anytime I am here for yall.
