Michael C. Strausser

Michael C. Strausser, 70, a native of Monroe and resident of Thibodaux, passed away on Nov. 25, 2017, with family by his side.

Visitation will be held at St. John Episcopal Church in Thibodaux on Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a memorial service held in his honor. His ashes will be scattered in the St. John Scatter Garden following the service.

He graduated from Neville High School, received his B.A. from Centenary College and master's in Urban and Regional Planning from University of New Orleans. While at Centenary he played for the Shreveport Symphony. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for South Central Planning and Development Commission, and for the last 22 years of his professional career, he served with the Jefferson Parish Community Development Program, retiring in 2009.

He generously devoted his time, talents, and treasures to his family, friends and faith. He was an active member of St. John Episcopal Church, most recently serving as its junior warden. He loved music and was a member of the St. John's Choir, Thibodaux Music Club, Music at St. John's and the Sing-Along-Singers.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice Barrilleaux Strausser; sons, John and wife, Elizabeth, and Paul Strausser; sister, Mary Jo Brown; grandchildren, Katherine and William Strausser.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley "Ted" and Rebecca "June" Strausser.
