Chirag Ratilal Patel

Chirag Ratilal Patel, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on February 15, 1960, in Surat, Gujarat, India, Chirag lived a life marked by dedication, brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to his passions and loved ones.

Chirag attended M M High School in Ville Parle, Mumbai, India, then immigrated to the United States at age 20 to pursue higher education at the University of New Orleans, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His career was a testament to his ingenuity and expertise. Known for creating operational policies and procedures for project management that remain in use today, Chirag was a trusted lead engineer whose skills were highly sought after. His ability to save companies significant resources through his innovative approaches left an enduring legacy in his field.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chirag was a man of many talents and interests. A masterful poker and blackjack player, he approached these games with the same precision and thoughtfulness that defined his career. He also had a deep love for sudoku puzzles, geography, maps, mountains, and beaches; interests that reflected his inquisitive mind and appreciation for the world’s beauty.

Chirag’s faith was an integral part of his life. A deeply spiritual person who did not fear death, he carried himself with quiet devotion and loyalty. His thoughtful and considerate nature touched everyone who knew him. He was passionate about football (especially about his Saints) and cricket, and he had a particular fondness for Blue Bell cookies-and-cream ice cream.

A devoted father and dog lover, Chirag’s love for his family was unparalleled. Those who knew him will remember him as quiet yet deeply caring—a man whose loyalty and kindness left an indelible mark on their lives.

Chirag was preceded in death by his father, Ratilalbhai. 

He is survived by his wife, Michele “Micki,”; daughter, Nia; son-in-law, Chase Christensen; granddaughter, Kali Christensen; mother, Indubala; sister, Tarjani “Gita” Shah; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. The visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 p.m.
