Paul Duet Obituary

Paul Horace Duet, 95, passed away at 5:02 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2018. He was a native and resident of Houma.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation from 8 a.m. until service time Friday, Dec. 14 at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma. Mass of Christian Burial will begin following visitation in the Cathedral at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Paul is survived by his children, Kathryn Duet LeBoeuf, Carolyn Lee Duet Tibbits and husband, Peter, Paula Marie Duet, and Penny Francis Duet Mitchem and husband, Bob; son, Jody Matthew Duet and wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Jared LeBoeuf, Ryan LeBoeuf and wife, Christin, Nicole LeBoeuf Chauvin and husband, Dean, Monique LeBoeuf Dombrowsky and husband, Ian, Carrie Lee Quiterio and husband, Kimy, Michelle Tibbits McCellan, Laura Lee Tibbits, Peter Tibbits IV, Joshua Guillot, Jennifer Guillot, Catherine Duet and Matthew Duet; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Laura Lee Mary Breaux Duet; parents, Andrew Jackson Duet and Azile Eymard Duet; grandson, Jacob Guillot; son-in-law, Novel Nick LeBoeuf; sisters, Eleanor Savoie, Malvina Theriot, Rita Adams, and Phylis King; and brothers, Lee Duet, Steve Duet and Collins Duet.

Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1317 and a Veteran of the United States military, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Paul served as past president of Bourg's Lions Club and past president of the Chamber of Commerce. He served his community on the Parish Councils at St. Ann's Church in Bourg and St. Francis de Sales Church in Houma and as financial advisor for St. Francis Church.

Paul was a 1941 graduate of Terrebonne High School.

Paul was a graduate of Nicholls State University in Business Administration. He also served in the Navy V-12 Unit in S.L.I in Lafayette and the NROTC unit at Tulane University in New Orleans. Paul was a Chief Civil Deputy of Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Department, serving under five sheriffs. He was the Vice President of First Federal Savings and Loan.

He will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to The Homestead, Haydel Memorial Hospice, Yvonne LeBoeuf and Bobbie Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana; The Seminarian Educational Burse in the name of Paul and Laura Duet, or the renovation found at St. Francis De Sales Cathedral at P.O.
