Randolph Parro Obituary

Judge Randolph H. Parro
Thibodaux - Judge Randolph H. "Randy" Parro died on July 11, 2021 at the age of 78. He was a native and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Michelle Zeringue Parro; his daughters Elizabeth P. Gawey (Brad) of Oklahoma City, Leslie P. Gottsegen (Brad) of New Orleans and Caroline H. Martin (Chris) of Baton Rouge; and his 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carole P. Knobloch (C.J.); his brother, Richard Parro; his sister-in-law Noel Parro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Aimee Barras Parro, and brothers James and Peter.
Randy graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1960 and was captain of the state runner-up football team. In 1964, he graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He received his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law Center in 1967. During his distinguished legal career, he practiced private law in Thibodaux for many years and served as top aide to Congressman Patrick Caffery. He was also appointed as associate director of the Superport Authority, and represented Louisiana in its endeavor to have Congress authorize the construction of a deep-water port off of the coast of the United States. As a result of his efforts, Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) located the port in Lafourche Parish. Beginning in 1982 he served as District Judge in the 17th Judicial District for 11 years. In 1993, he was elected to the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal, where he continued to serve until his retirement in December 2014.
Randy was deeply committed to his local community, and was an active member of the Rotary Club of Thibodaux and the Krewe of Christopher. He also served on the board of the Lafourche Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Assistance Program.
Randy lived life with enthusiasm and enjoyment that was beyond measure. He loved music, dancing and most importantly his family and many friends. He was blessed with the ability to make each and every person he encountered smile. Randy will be loved, missed and always remembered.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Thibodaux, Louisiana from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux, Louisiana.

My deepest sympathies to Randy´s family. I met him when he periodically came to BR with his dad who was the district manager of the Houma District Office for the Office of Conservation. While Mr Parro was in the District Managers meeting he would sit in the Secretarial Pool and visit with the ladies. He was such a gentleman.

So sorry to hear about Randy's death. My sympathies to his family... I have known him since the 60's.. I was employed by Union Oil of California and Randy was a summer employee while going to college... He was always such a nice guy... I so remember the parties that his dad Randolph Parro gave....I would also see Randy monthly at the BIG "Bayou Industrial Group" luncheons, always smiling ... Praying for his family...
