Thomas Ensley Obituary
Thomas Bryan Ensley, 22, a native of Lafayette and resident of San Antonio, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at his residence.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the visitation from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with interment at the church cemetery.
Thomas is survived by his mother, Susan Anne Chauvin Ensley; two sisters, Amanda Christine and Jessica Leigh; one nephew, Christian Bryan; one niece, Liliana Amor Ensley, all of Houma; his aunts and uncles, Diana Lee of Florida and Talleen Holloway of Oregon, David and Christine Daigneault of Houma, Jerome and Barbara Chauvin of New Orleans, Jonathan and Debra Chauvin, and Kenneth and Terri Chauvin of Houma; and his loving cousins, Benjamin and Allison Daigneault, Alanna, Adam, Jude, and Amie Chauvin of Houma, Krista C. Ellingson of Texas, and Michelle C. Rogers of New Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bryan Eugene Ensley; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Boris Gene Ensley; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Paul Chauvin.
Thomas grew up in Lafayette and moved to San Antonio with his family as a young teenager. He was employed by Spice of Life Catering Company. He enjoyed preparing and cooking food with the many friends he made while working there. Thomas inherited his passion, love and talent for music from his dad, Bryan. He received his first set of drums from him at the age of 5. From that point on, he excelled in ALL things music. He had the ability to turn anything he touched into a sweet melody. He was most himself while beating his drums or slapping his bass. In his song of life, he met and made friends where he left his loving "notes" on their hearts. Thomas had a magnetic personality and was an inspiration to all who met him. His smile, carefree spirit and loving, musical soul will be dearly missed by all. His song will never die!!

Thomas was my English student at JLA. I just found out about his death through a visiting JLA graduate.I was shocked and saddened at the news. He was a delightful soul and I am blessed by knowing him.

Mrs. Susan, After catching up with Mrs. Kathy I found out about Thomas. The year that I worked with you at the school board I can recall you always talking about your kids. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but I know you are a very strong woman!!!! I pray that God gives you the strenth and guidance to get through this hard time.

Thomas: i'm so sorry. You truly were a happy guy always. I remember when we use to jam together...man, you'll be missed, you and your Huxtable sweaters, : ) we will see each other again buddy i promise! RIP my friend!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I know that Thomas will be truley missed. It never mattered the mood, he could always bring a smile to my face. His many talents let him experience many things in his short life, but his spirit will live forever in harmony.

I am so grateful to have known Thomas. He was a part of our family for the years that he & Sarah were together & called me Aunt Skye in that sweet Louisiana accent of his. He always had a smile for everyone & helped everyone he knew in any way he could.
I loved listening to him play many times, both bass & drums; he was a very gifted musician.
Susan, Amanda & Jessica, I am so very sorry for your loss, but I know that you have a very special angel with a heart as big as the world watching over you forever.

Thomas was a good guy, Always willing to lend a helping hand. I remember when i first met him back in the 7th grade at kitty hawk.. We shared some common interests in music.. Never would i imagined that we'd travel the west coast playing music together.. He helped my band tour by filling in as our drummer. It was a great experience. I'm thankful for getting to share that experience for the first time with him. Thomas, Stay cool man and keep rockin! RIP Brother.

Thomas you were truly an angel and brought no drama or harm to anyone. I remember back when I was in 8th grade and you were in 6th coming back home on the bus headed back to olympia to just go play and enjoy life. You always brought me a smile to my face whether or not you realized it at the time but you do now bro. I've decided to write you a letter and put it in a bottle along with whoever else would be willing to. I'm going to swim out to the middle of Canyon Lake and drop it in your memory. Sloan loves the idea by the way lol. I want to say that even though I didnt meet your family but a handful of times they have my full support and can reach out for help or someone just to talk to at anytime. I'm glad that you no longer have to deal with any of the non sense that this world is so consumed by. You're spirit and beliefs live on Thomas and it was an honor and a privilege to call you my homie. Rest in heavenly peace to one of the mellowest most loving people I've known. God bless you and your family as well.

Susan, when you all lived in Lafayette off of John LeBlanc Road, my son, Kyle Melville and neighbor, Matt Robin aka "Boot" were friends with Thomas when they were younger. We want to express how sorry we are for your loss!

I remember when you moved down the street. I thought to myself, "Wow the circus just moved in." :) Who would have thought that y'all would be more than friends but family to me. I remember sittin there observing Thomas on them drums and I said to myself "How does he do it like that?" haha. Then eventually I ask him he says "I just observed other drummers." Amazing laid back style. ;)Wish I could of seen him jam one last time hehe.

Susan, Amanda, & Jessica: My heartfelt condolences are with all of you right now. Tomorrow will be the hardest day of your life, sorry i will not be able to be there to share the life of Thomas. But please do know that my heart has been heavy since i heard the news. I shared a few years with all of you and will remember the precious moments we had with Thomas.
