Unexpectedly after a short illness at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, California. Long time resident of the Rinconada Hills Community in Los Gatos, California and formerly of Saratoga, California. Barbara was born in Strathroy, Ontario Canada and grew up in nearby London. She married Dr. Barry Judd in London and together they lived across Canada in Montreal, Quebec; Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia before moving to California with their three children in 1972.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Andrea Blackwell (Tim) of Los Gatos, son Peter (Jane) of Toronto, Ontario, son Paul, sister Mona Swinton of Australia and nephew Alex Laird of Victoria, British Columbia. Also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda Beatty (Jon), Brandon Judd, Garrett Blackwell, Jaclyn Blackwell and Mitchell Blackwell.
Predeceased by her parents Harry Kenneth and Barbara Fair Laird, her siblings Kenneth, Marie, Lily and Harry as well as her former husband Dr. Albert Barry Judd.
Barbara was a talented and dedicated real estate agent, most recently with Intero Real Estate Services in Los Gatos. She specialized in selling homes in Rinconada Hills where she was an active member of the community. Her skills and passion for her field were often rewarded with Barbara being named the top salesperson in her office.
Barbara loved spending time with her family enjoying many wonderful moments hanging out at the Blackwell home. Taking Barbara on a European vacation with Tim remains on of Andrea's fondest memories. Tim loved the time he had with her closing real estate deals. Travelling to Canada to visit Peter's home in Toronto and cottage in northern Ontario was always a highlight of Barbara's year.
Barbara's grandchildren were very special to her. Amanda loved their long phone calls, catching up on all things real estate and the latest trends in natural health. Brandon loved hearing Nana light up with the excitement of a much younger woman when she talked on the phone with him about her team, the Giants, in particular her favorite player Tim Lincecum. Garrett loved Nana's crazy sense of humor and her natural sales skills. He would like to thank her for being in his life and being one of his biggest fans. Jaclyn remembers Nana as having a beautiful soul with a great sense of humor. She will always carry her Nana in her heart. And the youngest grandchild, Mitchell felt that Nana always made him feel calm and relaxed when she talked about what was on her mind.
A Celebration of Life to honor Barbara will take place at Darling Fischer Chapel of the Hills, 615 N. Santa Cruz Avenue, Los Gatos, CA on Thursday, September 11 at 2:00 pm.
Private family burial will take place on Friday, September 9 at Madronia Cemetary in Saratoga.
